Ministry Experience Internships

Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary offers students three avenues by which to pursue field ministry credit:

1. Supervised Field Ministry (On Campus Class): PMN6590A/B and MIN4650 is designed to help the student identify and participate in a field ministry experience. The class meets on campus the first three weeks and the final week of the semester. The requirements, forms, and procedures for the internship will be covered during the on-campus meeting times. By the third week, you are to have your mentor and ministry in place so you can begin your internship by the fourth week. 2. Mentored Internship: PMN7900 and MIN4900. This is a class designed for graduate and undergraduate students who have an opportunity to participate in a mentorship but because of geographical constraints are not able to participate in the on-campus class (PMN6590 A/B or MIN4650 Supervised Field Ministry). The student is responsible to fill out the PMN7900 application prior to being approved and registered for this class. A graduate student can take this course up to three times and gain a maximum of 9 credit hours.  A college student can take this course up to four times and gain a maximum of 12 credit hours. 3. Internship in Student Ministry 1 & 2: CED6818/6819. Student Ministry 1 is a supervised field experience at an approved student ministry site. The student will spend 100 hours of on-field training and experience during the semester. Perquisite for this class is CED6810. Student Ministry 2 is a supervised field experience at an approved student ministry site. The student will spend 100 hours of on-field training and experience during the semester. 4. Mentored Counseling Internship: BCO7900A/B. This internship is a counseling experience in an appropriate field setting with an approved supervisor. A student may substitute BCO7900 Mentored Counseling Internship for BCO7502 (Practicum 2) and BCO7503 (Practicum 3) courses. Student may only replace one practicum in any given semester. 5. equip: SEBTS has developed ongoing partnerships with churches and para-church organizations which offer a variety of ministry experience internships. Some of our partner organizations and churches may offer some of the following internships: Pastoral Ministry, Administration and Education in the Local Church, Christian Leadership, Christian Missions, and Church Planting in Global Context. A student can enter into an internship through the course PMN6591 EQC/MIN4650 EQC with an Equip Partner and gain anywhere from 3 to 9 credit hours.
