Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary Missionary Housing
STATEMENT OF CONDITIONS
People satisfying either of the two IMB categories, ACTIVE MISSIONARIES ON STATESIDE ASSIGNMENT or MISSIONARY CANDIDATES who have returned from the field and are currently in the application process for active appointment with the IMB, may qualify to occupy Missionary Housing at a reduced rent rate by the Seminary provided they will be enrolled in the Seminary for a minimum of eight semester hours. However, the cost for utilities and phone service will be borne by the occupant. Reduced rent rate will be based on need and determined by subsequent waiver form that will be sent to applicants. Assignments will be based on availability. Written applications will be received by the Housing Office at any time, but you are encouraged to make application at least one to two years in advance of your intended stateside assignment.
Occupancy of Missionary Housing will be reviewed by the Housing Office each semester and is not to exceed two contiguous semesters. Emails from the IMB verifying the IMB status of applicant for missionary housing must be provided prior to the beginning of each semester (Fall & Spring) that Missionary Housing is used (Emails can be sent to housing@sebts.edu.)
Application forms are available through the Housing Office or by following the link below.
MISSIONARY HOUSING (Furnished): SEBTS has a limited number of missionary apartments available to returning missionaries. For occupancy of these apartments, preference will be given to those who are enrolled in courses leading to a degree. Missionary apartments are completely furnished including linens, towels, kitchen ware, phone, high speed internet, standard cable television, washer and dryer.
MISSIONARY HOUSING (Not Furnished): In case there are more applicants than there are missionary apartments available, candidates will be given priority in Seminary housing. Seminary housing is not furnished. Occupants must provide all furnishings, including linens, towels, kitchen ware, washer and dryer.
MISSIONARY COMMUTER HOUSING (Limited Furnishings): Commuter housing is exempt from the minimum eight-hour requirement and, with compliance to the other items in this section, may be used at a reduced rent rate by returning missionaries. Commuter housing is available to returning missionaries taking summer courses or taking courses during a regular semester during the time the courses are being taken. However, this housing should be used only by individuals or families planning to be on campus no more than four nights a week. Commuter apartments have furniture, but no linens, towels, kitchen ware, washer or dryer.
