Placement Examinations
Southeastern Seminary administers placement exams of all graduate applicants to the Master of Church Music (MCM) and Master of Divinity with Worship Leadership (MDiv/WL) degree programs. If deficiencies are indicated, remedial work will be required without graduate credit. Diploma in Church Music (Dip/CM) entering students who desire to place out of courses in the diploma program must also take certain placement exams, where applicable.

All incoming students must take these exams during the orientation week prior to the first semester of the student’s matriculation. A choice not to take the Placement Exam is a choice to take the corresponding remedial course.
Those students who do not achieve a passing score on these exams are required to take the corresponding course(s) for no graduate credit.  Students are required to take the indicated course at its first offering after the Placement Exam has been taken. In like manner, Dip/CM students must take diploma courses at their first offering after the initial Placement exam opportunity, regardless of whether they exercised their opportunity to place out of the respective course or not.
