As a member of a Southern Baptist church students automatically receive a 50 percent discount off their tuition, providing an annual subsidy for each student of approximately $4,400. Student aid at Southeastern begins with the commitment of the Southern Baptist Convention to theological education. This commitment is most evident in the generous funding of Southeastern's entire operation. The result is that basic fees are kept at a minimum.

Other types of aid are made possible through gifts and funds established by individual and corporate donors. These make it possible to provide work grants, loans, emergency grants and scholarships to qualified students.
Grants and loans are available in small sums to meet urgent or emergency needs of students. Scholarships are awarded from available funds each semester after the last day to drop a class without academic penalty. Applications for grants, loans and scholarships are reviewed and awarded by decision of the loan and aid committee. Information and applications may be obtained from the financial aid office.

State organizations and foundations generously provide scholarships for our students. The student should contact the state organization directly to learn eligibility requirements and deadline stipulations as well as to obtain applications. Most state organizations determine residency based upon one's driver's license and filing of taxes and require that you be a resident of that state for one year prior to initial attendance at Southeastern.

Many of our students receive financial assistance through their local church. This assistance can vary from one-time love offerings to scholarship programs with formal applications. Arrangements for church sponsorship agreements can be made with the business office.
***Please note: Southeastern Seminary and Southeastern College at Wake Forest do not participate in any federally-funded student aid programs involving loans or grants. Prospective students should not anticipate such aid being available while enrolled at the seminary or college (Federal aid includes: Pell grants and Stafford & Perkins loans). Although Southeastern does not participate in federal aid programs, through a special arrangement with Sallie Mae we are able to certify our students for Signature Students loans which offer deferred payment plans. To learn more, visit www.salliemae.com.
Southeastern Seminary is approved to certify enrollment eligibility for repayment deferments for most federal or state education loans received in college. Students should contact their lending institutions for advice and information. Such deferments should be referred to the registrar's office.
