Raleigh Executive Training Institute

Our Confession
We affirm the Bible as the authoritative Word of God. We covenant to teach in accordance with and not contrary to the Abstract of Principles and the Baptist Faith & Message.

Our Core Competencies

With our confession in mind, Southeastern’s faculty attempts to develop five Core Competencies in students through a Southeastern education.  Every student should seek to develop in…

  • Spiritual Formation Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue an authentically Christian way of life, manifested by trust in God, obedience to Christ’s commands, and love of God and neighbor.

  • Biblical Exposition Demonstrate the ability to properly and effectively interpret, apply, and communicate the Scriptures.

  • Theological Integration Demonstrate the ability to understand and apply the doctrines of Christianity to life and ministry.

  • Ministry Preparation Demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and Christian disposition necessary for ministry and leadership in the church and the world.

  • Critical Thinking and Communication Demonstrate the ability to think critically, argue persuasively, and communicate clearly.

We strive to do all of this while cultivating in students a delight in God, His Word, and His Church.

The Raleigh Executive Training Institute (RETI) was established by Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in order to make theological education more accessible to accomplished professionals and active retirees living in Raleigh and surrounding communities. All courses will be taught by a world-class faculty and will lead to an accredited masters-level certificate in Biblical Studies and Theology.

The Certificate of Biblical Studies and Theology features seven foundational courses in Christian studies. Courses are intentionally short and manageable to accommodate a busy schedule. Each class meets just six times, all on Thursday evenings from 5:45 – 7:00 p.m. Prior to each class, students will watch three, twenty-minute lectures. Thursday evenings will feature face-to-face lectures and discussion. No classes meet over the summer or during the busy holiday season, and a two-week break is scheduled between classes to keep the pace of study enjoyable throughout the entire program. All classes are offered near North Hills in Raleigh at a location with on-site parking convenient to most offices and homes in the Triangle.
