Preparation and Continuing Education for Pastors and Churches

This online and on campus training portion of the Southeastern Center for Pastoral Leadership and Preaching includes specific curriculum development related to pastors, as well as conferences, workshops, webinars and online resources, all geared toward equipping local church leadership. Practical training opportunities will be offered for our students and alumni as well as those who are not yet a part of the Southeastern family.

Authenticity Series: An Honest Look Into the Life of a Pastor

The fall semester's Authenticity event will take place on Tuesday, November 10th from 7-8:30 PM in the Multi-Purpose Room upstairs in Ledford. Please come join Dr. John Ewart, Mr. Ryan Hutchinson, and Mr. Art Rainer as we discuss issues related to ministry and money. A minister’s personal and ministry finances can be confusing and present challenges. The Pastors’ Center invites you to learn from these men’s experiences on how to handle finances well.  You can RSVP for this free event here.

Recordings and other resources from previous Authenticity Series events can be found on the Pastor's Center’s Recommended Resources page.

Equip Workshops

Equip Workshops are intended to provide practical training for Southeastern students are interested or involved in pastoral ministry, as well as area pastors. These events will provide a multi-faceted study of key aspects of ministry that aren’t always taught in the classroom, such as funerals, ordinances, and pastoral care.  These events will provide students with a strong foundational understanding of the theological implications and practical considerations of each topic.

The fall semester's Equip Workshop will be Wednesday, September 16th from 10 am - 12 PM in Appleby Chapel. This semester, we will address the ordinance of the Lord's Supper. Our panel, comprised of Dr. John Ewart, Dr. Stephen Eccher, and Dr. Keith Whitfield, will first discuss the importance and theological grounding of the ordinance. They will also cover practical concerns, such as how to structure a service and how to administer the ordinance. Next, the panel will move through an example service in how to lead a congregation through this act of worship. You can RSVP for this free event here.

Recordings and other resources from previous Equip Workshops can be found on the Pastor's Center's Recommended Resources page.

Annual Conferences

In the upcoming months, the Southeastern Center for Pastoral Leadership and Preaching will develop one or more Annual Conference concepts that speak specifically to the needs of full-time and bi-vocational pastors and their families. These conferences will take place on the Southeastern campus so that local pastors and students may attend. The Center Conferences will also be available via simulcast for those wishing to attend from a distance. After the event, the content will be made available on our “Recommended Resources” page.
