About

The Lewis A. Drummond Center for Great Commission Studies (CGCS) is the hub of Southeastern's Great Commission efforts, helping develop students and faculty members who are Great Commission servants of their local churches. The CGCS serves the Southeastern community in four major areas: academics, research, mobilization, and convention relationships.

Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary seeks to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ by equipping students to serve the Church and fulfill the Great Commission.

Southeastern Seminary seeks to coordinate its faculty and students' mission efforts in order to make the best use of the resources God has given us. Southeastern's short-term mission trips support the mission of Southeastern: "Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary seeks to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ by equipping students to serve the church and fulfill the Great Commission."

The Center for Great Commission Studies (CGCS) sponsors several mission trips each year. We literally go around the globe. Some of the trips will focus on evangelizing the lost, while others will focus on discipling national leaders to reach their own nations. Some trips will be to unreached people groups, while others will be to fields that are yielding a great harvest. At the center of this variety, however, is a unifying focus: that healthy, reproductive churches will be planted among every people group of the world. The goal of SEBTS mission trips is primarily to equip students to fulfill their lifetime roles in the Great Commission, and secondarily to assist IMB and NAMB missionaries in their strategic tasks.

Faculty and adjunct faculty who are interested in proposing a mission trip may find the Mission Trip Prospectus Form here.

A brief Policies and Procedures Manual for the team leader regarding mission trip guidelines may be found here.

The IMB maintains a Preparation Guide for Volunteers. This Guide includes information covering the full range of mission trip details from spiritual to logistical. This will be something that mission team members might want to use for their own preparation. If you would like to use it or point your team members towards this resource, you may find it here.

The U.S. Department of State offers country profiles and travel advisories for every country. This site will be useful to you in determining whether or not you need to get visas for your team, and it will give you a useful overview of each country. You may go to that site here.

For information about immunizations and other health advisories, you may want to check out the Center for Disease Control's website on the country you plan to visit. The CDC site is here.
