Falls Lake Christian Stewardship Symposium

falls lakeOn May 6-7, 2012, the Center for Faith and Culture co-sponsored the Falls Lake Creation Stewardship Project with the George Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainablity. Approximately thirty-five to forty people were present each day.

The purpose of this symposium was to bring together theologians and natural resource experts to discuss ecological challenges to Falls Lake and theological perspectives on ecosystems within the lake, with a goal of engaging church pastors and leaders in developing avenues to protect Wake County’s drinking water supply and ecosystem health and services. Event speakers included both scientists and theologians. The full event program can be viewed, here.

The event was hosted at North Wake Church. Other organizations involved in the symposium were Open Door Baptist Church, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Wake Up Wake County. Funding was provided by the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation.

The papers of the symposium will be published as Theoecology Journal (ONLINE) Vol. II No 1 January 2013.
