The L. Russ Bush Center for Faith and Culture seeks to engage culture as salt and light, presenting and defending the Christian faith and demonstrating its implications for all areas of human existence.
The Center has a two-fold purpose: (1) To convey graciously and apply effectively the Christian worldview to all areas of culture and to the human condition; (2) To encourage and support the Church in its redemptive work.
On November 4, 5, and 6, 2010 the L. Russ Bush Center for Faith and Culture along with NC State Campus Crusade for Christ and Richland Creek Community Church co-sponsored a a three-day, multi-venue apologetics training event called, "The Gospel in Contemporary Culture." The event featured Stuart McAllister of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries.
Stuart McAllister joined Ravi Zacharias International Ministries in 1998 as the International Director and today serves as the Vice-President for Training and Special Projects. With a heavy travel schedule that takes him all over the globe, Stuart speaks in churches and other forums with the same passion for the Gospel that he found when he first became a believer. While currently an Associate Fellow at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford University (Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics) Stuart has also been a lecturer at Alliance Theological Seminary in Nyack, New York, in addition to being a featured speaker at this year’s European Leadership Forum.
McAllister's lectures for the weekend included: "Life's Pursuit and the Question of Meaning," "Know Your Audience," "The Gospel in a Pluralistic Society," "Richard Dawkins Thinks You're Dangerous: Do Christians Really Reject the Life of the Mind?" and "Defending the Indefensible: The Gospel as Public Truth and Its Robust Defense." Overall, the weekend proved to be profitable in fanning the flame of the Gospel and its communication in a culture in need of its light.
