You have several options as a Distance Learning student: Online classes; Extension Center classes in six different locations; on-campus courses delivered in a Hybrid format; and Weekly Intensive classes (during Fall/Spring Break)

When is the application deadline?

30 days before the first day of class; however, if you are within 30 days of a class start date you may complete the one page Distance Learning Short Application (DLSA). The DLSA allows for only one semester of enrollment. You may obtain a current DLSA at our office, suite 109 of Appleby Hall, or by contacting our office for an email copy.

What is the cost for Distance Learning classes?

You will find tuition per credit hour and online fees here.

I just received my acceptance letter; now what do I do?

Congratulations! Begin by signing up for email forwarding by visiting webmail.sebts.edu and click the link "Change Email Forwarding".  You will use the same password to log in to CampusNet. Please allow a 24-hour turnaround time for the system to activate your account.

Do I need to attend New Student Orientation (NSO)?

If you are unable to a attend NSO on-campus, we have created an online NSO that you will be registered for through the Distance Learning Office.

ONLINE CLASSES

Can I obtain an entire degree online or at an extension center?

Students can combine online and extension center classes with on-campus hybrid format classes and five-day break classes to earn an entire degree with only a limited amount of time at our main Wake Forest campus. For example, a student may take nine hours by traveling to Wake Forest for a Hybrid weekend class, staying for the five-day break class the following week and taking an online class. This would be a “full load” with only a seven-day trip to campus.

Our Tampa extension center is accredited to grant a Master of Arts (Christian Studies) completely in Tampa.

How many hours can I take online?

Students must complete the equivalent of one year full-time academic study at the main campus or at an extension site that has been approved for degree-granting status.

Students may earn their entire Associates of Divinity or Associates of Arts online (60 hours). Students may earn 42 hours online towards a Masters of Divinity or a Bachelors of Arts degree. Online hours applied to a Master of Arts degree vary according to the area of study. Please contact the Distance Learning office for more information and check the Masters of Arts degree description in the Southeastern Academic Catalog.

How does an online class work?

You will receive downloadable lectures in iTunes and watch lectures weekly. More general, common requirements include weekly quizzes, an online mid-term/final exam, writing assignments, and interaction with students in threaded discussions via Moodle.  Each course is uniquely designed; requirements vary from class to class.

How do I search/register for classes?

We provide links on the "Online Classes" page and each extension center page for upcoming classes that are offered via distance learning. Students may search all classes by going to CampusNet -> Self-Service -> Course Search.

New distance learning students must contact the office of Distance Learning to register for their first class(es).

Returning students may register themselves for classes. Please follow the instructions located here

How do I know that I'm registered for class?

Log in to CampusNet -> Self-Service with your user id and password and "View Schedule". If you do not see the classes you registered for go back to the "Register" tab and make sure your classes are not still in your cart.

I am an "on-campus" student - What do I need to do in order to petition for an online class?

Online classes are reserved for students who live more than 120 miles away from Wake Forest, NC. On-campus students may read the policy here. Please follow the instructions on that page to petition for permission to take an online class.

RESOURCES

When do I get my DVD's?

We are no longer mailing out DVD's. Lectures are now being downloaded from iTunes U. You will receive instructions via email from the Distance Learning Office about iTunes U the week before your class(es) begins.

HYBRIDS

Tuition for Hybrid format classes is based on where the face to face portion of the class is located. If the class meets face-to-face in Wake Forest, NC the tuition is the same as an on-campus class - No online fees apply. If the face-to-face portion of the class meets at one of our extension centers (NOT in Wake Forest, NC), then the tuition is the same as normal Extension Center Campus tuition. Current tuition and fees are located here

How can I search for all hybrid courses?

We provide links on the "Hybrid Courses" portion of our website for upcoming hybrid format classes that are offered via distance learning.

EXTENSION CENTERS

Where are SEBTS Extension Centers located?

Currently, students may take classes in Florida, Virginia, South Carolina and North Carolina.

How many hours can I take at an extension center?

Students must complete the equivalent of one year of full time academic study (24 credit hours) at the main Wake Forest campus. Students may take up to 21 credit hours towards any MDiv at any of our extension centers. More hours may be taken at some extension centers. Please contact Distance Learning for more information. Hours applying towards a Master of Arts degree vary according to the specific MA degree. Please contact Distance Learning for information on what classes can be earned towards specific MA degrees.

Can I complete an entire degree at an extension center?

Students may complete the entire Master of Arts in Christian Studies at the Tampa Extension Center.

What is the format for Extension Center classes?

Unless specified in CampusNet, classes are being offered in a hybrid format, meaning: students begin and end each semester with online materials. Halfway through the semester students meet with the professor at the Extension Center as indicated in the course description in CampusNet. Students who do not attend the face-to-face component of the class must either withdraw from the class or switch to an online version of the class when available. Switching to the online class will incur the online service fee of $265 per class plus any additional add/drop fees.

What is the cost for extension center classes?

Current information on tuition and fees is located here.

When should I register for classes?

Students should complete online registration when enrollment opens in November for the Spring Semester and in April for the Summer and Fall Semesters. New students should contact the Office of Distance Learning to register for their first class(es).

Students may search classes at our extension centers by following the instructions below:

  1. Go to CampusNet and click on the "Course Search" link under the "Self-Serivce" tab.
