One of six musical ensemble options offered by SEBTS’ Music Program, Faithful Men is an auditioned group whose members are taken from the ranks of Male Chorale. The group has been in existence since 1995 when it was formed by Dr. John L. Davis, Professor of Church Music. It is composed of seminary music and worship students, college music majors and non-music students who are enrolled in the seminary and/or Southeastern College.
Having sung at three national Southern Baptist Convention meetings and at churches, colleges and universities across the South, Faithful Men is a very popular group and receives more requests for performances than can be granted. The group has recorded five CD projects: When I Survey (1998), Trustin’ God (2000), That All May Worship (2002), For the Glory of Your Grace (2004), and the newest and upcoming release: So Very Small (December 2007).
The purpose of Faithful Men is to promote the worship of God, to worship Him through live performances and to recruit additional worshipers for His Kingdom. The group also serves a recruitment function for the SEBTS Music Program, spreading the good word to those who might feel called into the ministry of music or to other fields of ministry.
