Free Online Classes at Southeastern

Massive open online courses are a popular new way of viewing lecture content from top ranked universities for free. Our desire is to offer the highest level of theological training to the greatest number of people so they can be further equipped to fulfill the Great Commission. The information and resources you will receive in our Free Online Courses will be the same lecture content as our classes here at Southeastern. As an added convenience, you will be able to enroll in these courses directly from our website, and they are self-paced so you will not have to worry about deadlines or rearranging your schedule.

The first free online class we offered is Dr. Akin’s "How To Read And Interpret The Bible" class called Hermeneutics. You will learn methods that will not only help you interpret Scripture but also communicate it in a variety of environments. This course will transform the way you read Scripture. Although this course is taught in a seminary, Dr. Akin’s clear teaching style can be understood by all who desire a deeper knowledge of the Bible. This course is currently still available!

This summer, we are launching two new classes in the same format: Leyendo e interpretando la Biblia (Reading & Interpreting the Bible in Spanish) and Missions & Evangelism in the Local Church. The first course covers the same material and ideas as Dr. Akin’s course but in Spanish. We are very excited to be able to make this resource available to individuals and churches more comfortable with Spanish than English.

The second course, Missions & Evangelism in the Local Church, covers issues and questions such as cross-cultural missions, missions in North American cities, church planting, contextualization, and many more. This class also features lectures by a variety of Southeastern professors, so you will have the chance to learn from many different individuals. We have been excited to hear of churches and ministries planning to use this for small group materials, leadership courses, and evangelism training for their people.

We plan to offer a variety of courses in similar formats. Please check back later for further details.
