02/13/2012

RDU Sacred Chorale

The Raleigh-Durham Sacred Chorale has announced the presentation of concerts at Braggtown Baptist Church in Durham on February 21 and at Wake Forest Baptist Church on February 23.

The Raleigh-Durham Sacred Chorale is comprised of amateur and professional vocalists from various walks of life, ranging from homemakers to ministers of music. The group is co-directed by Dr. John Boozer of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Mr. Aaron Jackson, minister of music at Christ Baptist Church in Raleigh.

The title of the program will be “God’s Work” and the music will be by some of the most renowned contemporary composers including Paul Basler, Frank Ferko and Daniel Pinkham. Some of the best-known names in choral arranging include Moses Hogan, Jay Rouse and Roger Ames.

Of particular interest will be music by one of America’s newest and brightest names in choral composition, Dan Forrest.  His original work, “Te Deum”, and his arrangement of the popular hymn “How Great Thou Art” will be featured on the program.
