Spurgeon Center

Preparation and Continuing Education for Pastors and Churches

This online and on campus training portion of the C. H. Spurgeon Center includes specific curriculum development related to pastors, as well as conferences, workshops, webinars and online resources, all geared toward equipping local church leadership. Practical training opportunities will be offered for our students and alumni as well as those who are not yet a part of the SEBTS family.

Authenticity Series: An Honest Look Into the Life of a Pastor

The C. H. Spurgeon Center is launching the Authenticity Series in order to provide an honest and encouraging look at the issues real pastors face in ministry. Authenticity Series events will take place on a bi-monthly basis. These events will be diological, conversational, and will feature input from a panel of experts in the field. Intended for both local pastors and students interested in pastoral ministry, Authenticiy Series events will tackle practical and/or theological topics most relevant to ministry today.

Equip Workshops: practical – funeral, wedding, Lord’s Supper, Baptism, pastoral care, sermon preparation and delivery

Equip Workshops are intended to provide practical training for SEBTS students who are interested in or currently involved in pastoral ministry. These events will provide a multi-faceted study of key aspects of ministry that aren’t always taught in the classroom. Addressing topics such as funerals, weddings, the Lord’s Supper, Baptism, pastoral care, and sermon preparation and delivery, these day-long events will provide students with a strong foundational understanding of the theological implications and practical considerations of each topic.

Annual Conferences – talk about combination of on-campus and online delivery

In the upcoming months, the C. H. Spurgeon Center will develop one or more Annual Conference concepts that speak specifically to the needs of full-time and bivocational pastors and their families. Our goal is that these conference events take place on the SEBTS campus so that local pastors and students may attend. C. H. Spurgeon Center Conferences will also be available via simulcast for those wishing to attend from a distance, and much of their content will be available after the fact via our “Resources” section.
