Women's Life

Welcome to Women’s Life at Southeastern!

Women’s Life aims to serve the women of Southeastern and the local church by encouraging them to live according to God’s design as established in His Word. Our purpose is to prepare women for ministry in their homes, churches, and communities so that they will be better equipped to fulfill the Great Commission.

As Women’s Life, we have the privilege of working with women in several capacities:

•    Biblical Women’s Institute houses four non-degree courses of study designed specifically for women in local churches who want more training as well as for those who are preparing to be a wife of someone entering the ministry.

•    Connecting Point is where all women of The College at Southeastern and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary – including student and faculty wives, students, and staff can “connect” and grow together.

•    Walking Worthy Blog seeks to encourage women of Southeastern by nurturing their spiritual growth through posts on various biblical topics. Contact our office about how you can get involved in encouraging women through the written word

•    Virtuous Pursuit exists to serve the women of our local churches through relevant biblical teaching while providing practical ministry experience for female students.

•    Embrace Leadership Network is a network gathering, sponsored by the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, designed to identify and support leaders through times of training, fellowship, roundtable discussions and the sharing of ideas and resources. Southeastern Women’s Life office is pleased to host the annual Embrace Leadership Network for the central region of North Carolina.

•    Graduate Studies for Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary also offers graduate programs with a concentration in women’s studies. Within the Master of Divinity or Master of Arts programs, a woman may concentrate in women's studies in order to prepare for Christian leadership positions other than the pastorate and thereby receive the Master of Divinity or Master of Arts degrees with the notation "with women's studies." The concentration provided by this track will prepare women for a wide variety of family, care-giving and mission ministries:

•    in church staff and denominational positions in which they develop, deliver and/or supervise ministries to women;
•    in missionary work;
•    in evangelistic work;
•    in women's conference ministries;
•    in teaching the Bible and related disciplines to women;
•    in advocacy work;
•    in teaching ministries addressing the practical, moral and spiritual needs of women.

For more information regarding graduate studies for women, contact the Student Development Office at 1-800-284-6317 or fill out our information request form.

The women of Southeastern are invited to attend a self-defense class on Saturday, March 17th from 10am to noon. During the class we will discuss crime statistics, practice some basic self-defense techniques and learn how to avoid dangerous situations, vulnerable attack points and how to be aware of your surroundings (i.e. robbery, carjacking, rape prevention). Instructor, Nathan Brown is a 2nd year seminary student and a 5th degree black belt in traditional karate.
