Becky BlackIt is with great sadness, yet at the same time great celebration, that we inform you of the passing away of Becky Black. Becky was the wife of Dr. David Black, longtime professor at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS). Becky was 60 years old.

A Visitation took place from 7 to 9 p.m. at Watkins-Cooper-Lyon Funeral Home in Clarksville, Va. Becky’s Celebration Service was held on Nov. 3 in Binkley Chapel on the SEBTS Campus from 2:00-3:30 p.m.

The interment followed at Bethel Hill Baptist Church in Bethel Hill, N.C. at 5 p.m.

Many family members and dear friends of Becky gathered at SEBTS to honor her life. The service featured several of her favorite songs, including “Amazing Grace,” “10,000 Reasons” and “All the Way My Savior Leads Me.” Scripture readings included Psalm 145, Romans 8:28-39 and John 14:1-6.

In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted to help the Black’s build a ministry training center in Burji, Ethiopia, where Becky was raised. Checks may be made payable to Bethel Hill Baptist Church, earmarked “Burji,” and sent to Dave Black at 2691 White House Rd., Nelson, VA 24580.

Please continue pray for Dr. Black and the rest of Becky’s family during these difficult days of grieving.
