United in Prayer with SBC President Ronnie Floyd

Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS) is hosting “United in Prayer” with Ronnie Floyd.
Floyd, the current president of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), is dedicated to seeing the next great awakening in America.
Students, faculty and regional pastors are invited to be part of the event on Sept. 18 held on Southeastern’s campus in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
Daniel Akin, president of Southeastern, said, “I am thrilled with President Ronnie Floyd’s call to prayer and spiritual awakening among Southern Baptist.”
“I am delighted he has carved out time to come to our campus and lead us in a day dedicated to this,” Akin emphasized. “We desperately need a movement of God in our midst and it would be wonderful for it to start here.”
Floyd highlights Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield as leaders for the first Great Awakening in the 1730s and 40s in a video about the event. He believes that the current American generation has fallen asleep spiritually and is in need of another great movement of God.
Building on Jonathan Edwards call in the 18th Century, Floyd explains, “We need to pray now and come together in explicit agreement, visible union, in extraordinary prayer for the next great awakening.”
The event will take place in two sessions. The first, from 10 a.m. to noon, will focus on the faculty, staff and students at SEBTS. The second, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., will focus on pastors, church staff and church members in the region. However, if you are not able to attend the session related to you, please join us for the other session. The sessions will include prayer, teaching and worship.
