Dr. Bryce Hantla joins Southeastern faculty and administration

Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS) is pleased to announce that Bryce Hantla will be joining the college faculty and administration, beginning August 1, 2021.

Hantla will serve as Associate Professor of Education, Associate Dean of the College, and Director of the Teacher Certification Program.

“Dr. Hantla’s academic and administrative experience, combined with his passion for training and mobilizing educators to fulfill the Great Commission, make him the ideal fit for this role,” said Scott Pace, Dean of The College at Southeastern. “Additionally, his willingness to personally invest in students’ spiritual development beyond the in-class instruction embodies who we are as a college and institution.”

In his new role, Hantla will oversee the dual enrollment program at the college as well as well as the scheduling, course development, assessment, and teaching of all education courses at the undergraduate level. Hantla previously served as the Academic Dean and Professor in the areas of teaching and writing at the College of Biblical Studies-Houston, starting in 2014. As Director of Southeastern’s state-certified, secondary education licensure track, Hantla understands the rigorous preparation and practice of teaching students. From 2006-2009, Hantla served as a middle and high school teacher at Wake Forest-Rolesville Middle School and Wakefield High School. Hantla received his MA from North Carolina State University and his EdD from SEBTS. Hantla and his wife Katie have four children: Rin, Abe, Wes, and Ell.

“As the new Associate Dean and Director for the Teacher Certification Program, we will begin to embody what Southeastern means when we say we will ‘Go’ into the education marketplace,” said Hantla. “Right now, Southeastern does mission and ministry really well, and this new education program will ensure that our students bring glory to King Jesus in the education marketplace as well.”
