New Students Arrive for Fall 2024 Welcome Week

Accompanied by a cool August breeze, new students have flooded Southeastern Seminary’s campus in anticipation of the start of Welcome Week and the fall semester. With over 200 new on-campus students joining hundreds of others through distance learning, this semester marks one of Southeastern’s largest incoming classes.

Over the course of Welcome Week, new students and their families will experience campus life, connect with faculty and staff, and learn about opportunities for ministry and community available to them in the Wake Forest area.

As the start of Welcome Week, today’s schedule includes several new and returning events, including a church and ministry fair, a job and service opportunities expo, a department open house, and a morning panel with Southeastern’s administration. During these events, students have the opportunity to network with local businesses and non-profits as well as meet pastors and ministry leaders from churches in the area.

During today’s morning panel, students met members of the Southeastern’s leadership who introduced themselves and offered some words of wisdom for the coming academic years.

In speaking to attendees, Dean of the College Seth Bible challenged the incoming students to seek to steward well the season that God has placed them in.

“Right now you have an opportunity to do education, to be further prepared for the ministry that the Lord has in front of you. And that looks different for different people,” he explained. “You just need to spend time thinking about what God has entrusted specifically to you and to do that to the best of your ability.”

As God continues to bring students to Southeastern who share a passion for making disciples, the institution has seen several years of increased enrollment and is thankful for the opportunity to steward these students’ coming years of life and ministry preparation, challenging them towards faithful involvement in the local church and pursuit of the Great Commission.

“There’s a great community here,” said Ryan Hutchinson, executive vice president of operations. “Take advantage of all of the aspects of community here, but make your local church a priority. Get plugged in, and be fed. Use your gifts to be a blessing to that local church,” he advised students.

Southeastern is thankful for God’s work in the lives of these new students, for their passion for the Great Commission, and for their desire to pursue God’s calling wherever that may lead. It is a great encouragement and blessing to welcome them and their families to the Southeastern community.
