Student Success

The Office of Student Success at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary exists to offer services and provide resources to assist students in completing their degree in a timely manner. Services include academic advising, academic coaching, academic probation/suspension recovery, and overseeing the expedited readmission process.

Chris serves Southeastern Seminary and The College at Southeastern by leading institutional discussions and strategies for retention and student success. Originally from north Georgia, Chris graduated from Truett-McConnell University (Cleveland, GA) with a BA in Biblical and Theological Studies before heading out to Southwestern Seminary (Fort Worth, TX) where he completed an MA in Apologetics, an MA in Philosophy, and a ThM in Ethical and Philosophical Studies. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in Philosophy of Religion at Southeastern. Chris is passionate about higher education and helping student succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

Carter Ellison

Though born in Florida, Carter grew up in the Raleigh area most of his life. He moved to Wake Forest in 2020 to pursue his undergrade degree in History/Pre-Law at the College at Southeastern. Carter has a great love for the church and is planning on serving the church the rest of his life, in any way God is calling him. Carter enjoys good food, good books, and good friends. On his down time, he enjoys playing golf, reading a novel, or hanging out with friends. Carter loves advising students and has a passion for academic success and excellence. He is excited and eager to answer all your academic questions!

Jim serves as an Academic Advisor for Southeastern. Originally from Kentucky, Jim graduated from Boston Baptist College with a degree in Biblical Studies. He graduated from Southeastern with an MA Biblical Languages and is currently pursuing a PhD in New Testament at Southeastern. He is married to Joanna and they enjoy going to the movies and game nights. They serve together at Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
