Specialized Institutional Scholarships

Southeastern’s Specialized Scholarships are designated scholarships based on specific eligibility criteria, which also require answers to additional application questions. Per a student’s eligibility, these questions may be included on the Standard Financial Aid Application. These committee-determined scholarships are open to current and prospective students and are based on variety of parameters and the availability of funds.

Students interested in any of Southeastern’s Specialized Scholarships should complete the Standard Financial Aid Application during the appropriate application periods with exception of the Women’s Auxiliary Scholarship; that application is provided in its description below.

As part of the Kingdom Diversity Initiative, Southeastern is pleased to offer financial aid awards to under-represented cultures on the Southeastern campus through two specialized scholarships housed under the Kingdom Diversity Initiative:

  • Kingdom Diversity Scholarship
    • Eligible students must be from an under-represented culture or a woman in a doctoral program.
    • First preference is given to full-time applicants with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher in all previous undergraduate and graduate coursework.
  • Daniel L. Akin Ethnic “Kingdom Diversity” Student Aid Fund
    • First preference given to ethnic minorities who are full-time students and members of an SBC church with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Standard Institutional Financial Aid Application

• Must be a graduate student currently pursuing a counseling degree at Southeastern
• Must be a full-time student (9 hours minimum) in his or her second or third year of degree program
• Recipients are selected based upon academic performance and Christian character
• Applications only available during spring semesters (March 1 – April 15) for the upcoming academic year

Standard Institutional Financial Aid Application

  • Presented by The Southeastern Women's Fellowship
  • For women who are being trained for service in God's kingdom
  • Determined by committee based on the combination of academic diligence and church involvement with a proven commitment to Christian service
  • A minimum of two full-time semesters (18 hours) must be completed at Southeastern
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required
  • Applicants must be enrolled for a full-time course load (9 hours)
  • Previous recipients will not be considered
