Southeastern Hosts T-Factor Summit for Business Leaders

On Wednesday, April 24th, Christian business leaders from across North Carolina arrived on Southeastern Seminary’s campus for the t-factor summit, a training initiative of Coca-Cola Consolidated. Grateful to host this training event, Southeastern endeavors to help equip and encourage Christians in the marketplace to make disciples of Jesus.

With the purpose of transforming workplace cultures around the world “for good, for God, for growth,” t-factor has received over 6,500 attendees in the past four years, representing over 29 million employees. At the summit on Wednesday, over 226,000 employees were represented by the Christian business leaders in attendance.

“Over the past three years, it has been our pleasure to host a Faith at Work event at Southeastern,” commented Drew Davis, director of financial and alumni development at Southeastern. “We have sought to help equip business leaders at all levels to leverage their workplaces for the Great Commission. This year, it is our honor to partner with Mark Whitacre, one of our past keynote speakers, and his organization, t-factor, to continue this vital work.”

In his welcome address, Southeastern President, Danny Akin, shared with the attendees the mission of Southeastern and spoke on the connection of the Great Commission to the marketplace.

“I am convinced that where God has located you men and women,” Akin stated, “the opportunities for gospel advance and the building of the kingdom are manifold. And we simply need to look for those opportunities and jump in where the Lord is moving and just be amazed at what he will do through very regular, ordinary people like you and me.”

“We hope you learn something new about God today that you can take with you and incorporate in your own corporation, your own organization, and even personally in your family,” expressed Mark Whitacre (vice president of culture and care and executive director of t-factor).

We hope you learn something new about God today that you can take with you and incorporate in your own corporation, your own organization, and even personally in your family.

Key speakers of the t-factor summit included Whitacre, Josh Dorminy (executive vice president and assistant to the chairman and CEO), Larry Griffith (CEO of Corporate Chaplains of America), and other business and Coca-Cola Consolidated representatives. Attendees also heard from Frank Harrison, the current chairman and CEO of Coca-Cola Consolidated. Throughout the morning, the visiting leaders engaged in Q&A panels on “Purpose and Culture” and “Legalities of a Faith-Friendly Organization.” Other topics of the event included the importance of chaplaincy, human capital, and giving and generosity.

With a vision for equipping students to serve with excellence wherever God calls them, Southeastern is thankful for the opportunity to serve Christian business leaders through hosting t-factor. Southeastern hopes that, through the influence and actions of these leaders, the gospel of Jesus Christ would be shared throughout the workplace.

“We look forward to continuing this strategic partnership after this event in order to provide a theological framework and educational resources to their participants and the organizations they serve,” shared Davis.
