The Society for Women in Scholarship
Cultivating the academic gifts of women.
The Society for Women in Scholarship seeks to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ by cultivating academic gifts, encouraging scholarly practices, and facilitating opportunities for women to contribute to the academy in order to serve the Church and fulfill the Great Commission.
What is The Society for Women in Scholarship?
The Society was created as a means to help women who are academically and theologically gifted gain valuable support during their time at the academy. It’s a member-based society with multiple levels of membership, depending on your relationship to Southeastern and your commitment abilities. The Society also seeks to give back to the seminary by holding academic events that will benefit and equip the entire student body. It’s not something only for women. While membership and meetings are female-only, events, and colloquiums put on by The Society are offered as a resource for the entire student body.
What does it do?
The Society exists to cultivate academic gifting and professional development in women at Southeastern at both the college and seminary levels. The way this gets accomplished is through regular meetings, mentoring relationships from professionals in academia, career networking, colloquiums, round-table discussions, and more.

They are members at The Summit Church.
Kelsey Hamilton
Kelsey Hamilton enjoys counseling women, teaching, and training future counselors, believing that the ultimate goal of counseling is the sanctification of both counselee and counselor. She oversees the Counseling Center on campus and is a three-time graduate of Southeastern, most recently earning her Ph.D. in 2024. She’s also a proud Raleigh native who enjoys good Tex-Mex, social documentaries, and personalized book recommendations. Most of all, she loves to spend time with her husband and two boys, and they have been part of Imago Dei Church in Raleigh since 2022.

Pamela has been part of Southeastern since 2019 when she moved from north Mississippi to start her graduate studies. She holds dual Master’s degrees in Biblical Counseling and Christian Education and is currently pursuing a PhD in Christian Counseling. She is an active member of Richland Creek Community Church and enjoys drinking coffee, as well as constantly adding new books, movies, TV shows, and podcasts to her ever-growing TBR list. In her downtime, she also loves spending time with her beloved dog, Cash.
Gabrielle Berry
Gabrielle is pursuing her Master of Arts in Biblical Studies at Southeastern and is excited to graduate in May! She plans to begin her PhD at Southeastern in the Fall of 2026. Gabrielle believes that theological education serves as both academic and spiritual formation and strives to instill a love for learning within her peers and those she disciples. She believes that both professional and amateur academics can cultivate scholarly lifestyles and desires to see women of all ages and backgrounds engage in theological and biblical studies.
In her free time Gabrielle enjoys baking, playing the oboe, and shooting clay targets. Her favorite beverage is sweet tea, though she will happily pour a little coffee in her cream and sugar during coffee dates with friends. Gabrielle is excited to join the leadership team of the Society for Women in Scholarship and looks forward to cultivating the scholarly lifestyle within its fellowship!
