The PhD degree at Southeastern is an advanced degree in the area of preaching. The PhD in Preaching is delivered in a modified residency format. Each seminar is delivered over the normal period of other seminars and contains an on-campus experience, as well as, supplemental asynchronous components before and after the on-campus experience.

Seminars
Below is a list of the prescribed seminars for this PhD specialization. Students must demonstrate proficiency in one research language before beginning their fifth seminar. Four seminars (16hrs) will be completed during the Foundations Stage of the PhD program of study and the remaining four seminars (16hrs) during the Advanced Stage. Seminars may be completed in any order, though IND 9400 is to be taken as one of the last seminars needed (either the 7th or 8th seminar).
- BTI 9600 – Seminar in Biblical Hermeneutics
- LED 9320 – Biblical Foundations for Leadership
- May be substituted for another PhD seminar by the approval of the PhD student’s major professor.
- LED 9355 – The Personal Life of the Leader
- May be substituted for another PhD seminar by the approval of the PhD student’s major professor.
