Southeastern Supports Those Affected by Hurricane Helene
SEBTS Staff | October 01, 2024
In the aftermath of hurricane Helene this weekend, we grieve with communities throughout the Southeast who have been affected by the storm. We are praying for the millions impacted by this natural disaster, including the families who lost loved ones as Helene made landfall last week. We pray for the comfort of Christ to be especially near to them and for many to find hope and new life in him amid tragedy.
Within the Southeastern community, more than 250 of our students and their families have been significantly impacted by the storm. To these students, we express our support and our commitment to assist you now, as you recover, and in the weeks ahead, as you resume your courses. To submit prayer requests to the Southeastern community, visit our prayer page.
We have already been encouraged by the cooperative work of North Carolina churches and the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina (NC Baptists) to rally around communities in our state who are experiencing great loss. We join in the effort to support these communities by praying and by sending a team to assist in these relief efforts.
During fall break (October 7-11), Southeastern will be partnering with Baptists on Mission by sending a team to affected areas in western North Carolina. We will announce more information about this trip during chapel today (watch live at sebts.edu/chapel at 10:30 AM EST), and sign-ups will open immediately after chapel.
We also encourage you to get involved by volunteering with Baptists on Mission or donating through Send Relief and NC Baptists to support the disaster relief and recovery efforts.
Ways to Be Involved
Donate Water to Support Western North Carolina
Hurricane Helene has severely impacted water supplies in western North Carolina. To aid Baptists on Mission in their disaster relief efforts, we have established a water drop-off location on campus at our Prince Facilities Building. Your donations will directly help communities struggling with access to clean drinking water.
