Great Commission Givers Support Southeastern Mission During Giving Tuesday

This past week Southeastern Seminary celebrated the generosity of more than 280 donors who contributed to this year’s Giving Tuesday campaign, financially supporting Southeastern in its mission to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ by equipping students to serve the church and fulfill the Great Commission.
On Tuesday, December 3, in the Ledford Student Center, Southeastern employees set up the Giving Tuesday station and began reaching out to Southeastern friends,
alumni, and supporters, inviting them to participate in the giving efforts. Throughout the day the Southeastern community gathered at the station to write thank you notes, expressing their gratitude to all those who gave.
Many who chose to give had personally experienced Southeastern’s impact on their own lives and were excited at the opportunity not only to give back but also to invest in and support current Southeastern students who are being equipped for their own prospective mission fields.
Donations given to the Giving Tuesday campaign directly support the Southeastern Fund, which is designed to assist students through offsetting tuition costs. By providing essential funding for the institution, the Southeastern Fund helps increase the affordability of theological education for all
students, enabling them to focus more on their studies and spiritual growth without the stress of financial constraints.
Through the efforts of this fall’s Giving Tuesday campaign and all those who gave, a total of $375,000 was raised, adding to over 1.8 million raised since 2018 through Giving Tuesday. Furthermore, generous Southeastern donors offered a match of $250,000, which contributed to the amount raised and is in effect for gifts given through the end of the year.
“We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the outpouring of support on Giving Tuesday,” said Drew Davis, director of financial and alumni development at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. “We are deeply humbled by the generosity of over 280 donors who joined us in this 24-hour effort, raising more than $375,000 to advance the Southeastern Fund, building projects, student aid, and academic initiatives. This momentum inspires us as we head into the Christmas season, and we look forward to seeing how others join us in advancing the mission of making disciples of all nations.”
