Nineteenth Annual Southeastern Classic Golf Tournament Raises $132,000

On a windy Monday morning, September 8, 2025, Southeastern Seminary friends and family teed off for the annual Southeastern Classic golf tournament.

The Southeastern Classic is a regular highlight of the year and is one of the largest non-profit golf tournaments in the Triangle. This event and its contribution to the Southeastern Fund are made possible only through the continued generosity and support of Southeastern donors who desire to see the nations reached and students theologically equipped.

Over the course of the morning, 46 teams of 184 players competed across the pristine courses of North Ridge Country Club before gathering back together for the afternoon dessert reception. This year their efforts raised a total of $132,000, resulting in $1.6 million raised since the Classic began 19 years ago.

Jonathan Six, vice president for institutional advancement, opened the reception, thanking participants for their involvement in the event and for their support of Southeastern and its mission.

“We are so delighted to have you be a part of this tournament,” he said. “Your investment in this tournament goes to fund pastors, missionaries, church leaders, and their ministry preparation.”

Your investment in this tournament goes to fund pastors, missionaries, church leaders, and their ministry preparation.

This investment, Six said, has supported Southeastern students, now alumni, serving in all 50 states and over 40 countries worldwide.

“Our mission at Southeastern is that we seek to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ by equipping students to serve the church and fulfill the Great Commission,” said Ryan Hutchinson, executive vice president for operations. “And so we are training men and women that are literally going all around the globe to carry the gospel, to serve churches, and to see our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ glorified.”

“I was just thinking about these last 19 years,” he noted, “and the money that we have raised for this tournament has provided the equivalent of scholarships for 200 students taking full-time courses at Southeastern. So, thank you for your support here and what you do.”

During the reception, the winning teams were announced and trophies and prizes presented to those who won the longest drive, closest to the pin, team awards, and raffle drawings.

Every year Southeastern has the joy of hosting this highly anticipated tournament, and each year God’s grace abounds. We are thankful for the many Southeastern supporters, including over 50 sponsors, who showed up this year to participate in Southeastern’s mission to equip students and fulfill the Great Commission.
