Akin Encourages Christians Not to Be Silent on Abortion
Mary Asta Mountain | January 02, 2026
In a recently published letter by Human Coalition, Southeastern Seminary President Danny Akin joined fellow Christian leaders in a plea to local churches, urging Christians to speak boldly out against the moral crisis of abortion.
As a signatory of the letter and a staunch pro-life advocate, Akin believes that the Bible is unapologetically pro-life. The letter, addressing brothers and sisters in Christ, acknowledged the reasons why many churches neglect to speak publicly on the issue of abortion. The letter also unequivocally upheld the position of Scripture on the value of unborn lives. It warned of the consequences of silence and offered four pleas to church leaders as they guide their congregations towards truth.
- Preach the Gospel of Life with clarity and compassion.
- Proclaim the truth that every unborn child is sacred.
- Offer the hope of Christ to post-abortive men and women in your pews.
- Equip your congregations to be defenders of the vulnerable.
