Experience Southeastern: With the Faculty, In the Classrooms, On the Campus
Mary Asta Mountain | November 03, 2026
On Thursday, October 22, Southeastern Seminary welcomed 79 guests for the very first offering of Experience Southeastern, an on-campus event tailored to provide practical ministry training for believers seeking to serve the local church and fulfill the Great Commission. Many of the attendees also came as prospective students to experience Southeastern and its classrooms for the first time.
The events of the day featured a faculty panel, meals on campus, and Thursday morning chapel with a message from President Scott Pace. But the main focus of the day centered around six faculty-led breakouts on a variety of disciplines and essential ministry topics.
The sessions discussed issues like missions in a changing world, how to connect theology to all of life, the trustworthiness of the Gospels, and more. During these breakouts and throughout the day, attendees and prospective students had opportunities to engage with Southeastern’s faculty, ask questions, and experience theological education and ministry preparation first-hand.
“We know that God is at work in the lives of his people,” said Jonathan Six, vice president of institutional advancement. “That’s why we encouraged local churches to bring their people to learn, discern, and be equipped at Experience Southeastern. This event gave us the opportunity to display both the theological rigor and practical ministry training of a Southeastern education, while also allowing visitors to get a look behind the veil to discern how a seminary degree will help them grow and prepare for their next steps in ministry.”
More than a preview day, Experience Southeastern not only introduces prospective students to the on-campus experience but also equips them and other guests with practical theological training for ministry. Hosted twice a year, Experience Southeastern is designed to help current or aspiring ministry leaders discern their next steps and walk away better equipped for the work before them.
